TWITTER… What’s it all about?
We like to think of Twitter as Facebook gone mobile! It is social networking and blogging on a miniature scale, created as a sort of online SMS service, you are limited to 140 words per ‘Tweet’, Tweets being very similar to status updates on Facebook, which in general seem to consist of the ‘What are you doing right now…’ style answers, but as well as finding out what Lady GaGa is having for dinner (!), a far wider audience are using this site to promote their business and network with existing and potential business contacts.
Twitter was launched in June 2006 and is estimated to have over 200 million users worldwide, generating upwards of 65 million ‘tweets’ per day, there are strong arguments to say that Twitter is a complete waste of time, but whatever you think of it, there is no denying that that is one huge database of people ready to read and respond to what you’ve got to say… free of charge!
How can Twitter help your business?
There are fors and againsts a site such as Twitter, but whichever way you look at it, if used correctly you can get your voice heard by a massive captive audience, absolutely free of charge and that has got to make it worth giving a go! Check out some of our Twitter makeovers…

Twitter is great way of finding out what your competition is up to, who’s following them? What are their latest products/services? How many followers do they have and what are those followers saying about them and the products or services they are offering?
Its important to give a human approach to your company, the likes of Twitter and Facebook were originally started as ‘social’ networks, so keep it fun and interesting and people will be far more likely to follow you, if you show your business as being too corporate this could lose you followers, as it will appear boring, so in amongst promoting your products and services, try and include info about staff, nights out etc, things that will gain peoples interest and lure them in to becoming a keen follower.
