Website & service terms

These terms are with Top of the Search Ltd, Company No. 14941262. Registered Office: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. That is the registered office only — the business operates in Swansea and South Wales.

Top of the Search provides the Local Growth Website service: research, design and build of a website for your business, alignment of your Google Business Profile, and ongoing local SEO, monitoring, reporting and management while the monthly service is active.

The exact scope for your business — including the number of service pages — is agreed with you in writing before any work or payment begins.

The published price is £499 initial setup, then £149 per month for the ongoing managed service.

No VAT added — Top of the Search is not VAT registered.

Prices shown on this website are the prices you pay. Anything outside the agreed scope is quoted and agreed in writing before the work starts.

The £499 setup fee is a one-off charge covering the local search and competitor research, site architecture, design, build, technical SEO, Google Business Profile alignment, tracking setup and launch of your website.

Setup includes use and optimisation of client-supplied photography. On-site photography can be arranged separately if required.

The £149 per month covers the ongoing work: Google Business Profile optimisation and activity, local ranking monitoring against your agreed terms, Search Console and technical monitoring, website SEO and internal linking improvements, content or service-page expansion where it is justified, review support and monthly reporting.

Hosting is included while the £149/month managed service is active. The monthly fee primarily pays for ongoing optimisation, monitoring and management — not simply hosting.

To cancel, tell us in writing (email is fine) and the service ends 30 days later. No cancellation charge applies.

Hosting is included for as long as the £149 per month managed service is active. If the monthly service ends, hosting provided by Top of the Search ends with it, and you or your nominated provider will need to arrange hosting elsewhere.

Your domain is registered for your business. While the service is active we manage the domain and DNS settings on your behalf so your website, email and Google presence all point where they should. Domain registration fees payable to a registrar remain your cost unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.

• Your domain is registered for your business and managed by us while the service is active.
• If the ongoing service ends, you keep your domain.
• You keep the website content and website assets produced for your business.
• We will provide a reasonable handover to you or a provider you nominate.
• Hosting, SEO work, monitoring and management end when the paid service ends.
• Substantial migration or rebuild work to move the website onto a different platform may be quoted separately, and always before any such work begins.

Before optimisation begins we agree 5–10 relevant local search terms with you and record a baseline. If there is no measurable improvement in that agreed visibility during the first 90 days, we continue the agreed optimisation work without charging the normal monthly management fee for up to a further 90 days.

How progress is measured

• 5–10 relevant local search terms, agreed with you before optimisation begins
• A baseline recorded at the start, before any optimisation work
• Progress assessed on overall local search visibility — average position across those agreed terms
• The same tracking method and locations used at both ends, so the comparison is fair

Limits of the promise

• Rankings are never guaranteed
• A first position is never promised
• Leads and revenue are never guaranteed
• The £499 initial setup fee is not refundable under the Progress Promise
• The maximum additional free optimisation period is 90 days

During any additional free optimisation period, the agreed ongoing work continues as normal; only the monthly management fee is not charged, for a maximum of a further 90 days.

To do the work properly we need a few things from you:

• Accurate information about your business, services and service areas
• Any photography, logos or content you want used, and the right to use them
• Access to your Google Business Profile, domain or existing website where it is needed
• Reasonably timely feedback and approval at the agreed review points
• Payment of the setup fee and monthly fee as agreed

Nobody controls Google's search results. We do not guarantee any specific ranking position, a first position, a number of enquiries, or any level of revenue. What we commit to is the agreed work, honest measurement against the agreed baseline, and the 90-Day Progress Promise above.

Reasonable changes to the scope of the work can be made by agreement between us. Where a change involves substantial additional work it is quoted and agreed in writing before it starts.

The website content and website assets produced for your business are yours to keep. Where a third-party platform, template, font or stock asset is used, that item stays subject to its own licence.

Substantial migration or rebuild work needed to move your website onto a different platform may be quoted separately, and always before any such work begins.
